1939 : Foundation In 1939 the then director, Ad van de Wijdeven, started his own company called AWG. This company bought and repaired of old radios, which were then resold.
With the acquisition of two winding machines for coil winding the building in the Vriesstraat rapidly became to small and AWG soon moved production to the Kaakstraat in Eindhoven.
After the war AWG was renamed "Wijdeven Transformatoren & Elektrische Apparatenfabriek". The second location also became quickly insufficient. Thus Wijdeven moved again in 1951, this time to the Dijkstraat in Valkenswaard.
1964 : 25th anniversary In 1964 the company was 25 years old. From 1971 onwards Wijdeven participated actively in various exhibitions.
1979 : 40th anniversary In order to survive with the competition and keep up with the industrial revolution Wijdeven established a programme of investment and closely followed development of the market. By these means the turnover was tripled between 1983 and 1989.
1989 : 50th anniversary Due to the enormous growth the company was obliged to modernise the administration. Various departments were instituted and added to the existing organisation. In 1989 Wijdeven celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The establishment of Wijdeven’s own plant in the Czech Republic was realised in 1998.
1999 : Takeover of Luxor In October 1989 Wijdeven’s product range was widened with the acquisition of the company Luxor Transformatorenfabriek BV of Uden. Luxor’s products, custom designed transformers and wound components in the larger sizes up to 1.5 MVA, were added to Wijdeven’s activities.
Also in 1999: Foundation of Wijdeven Power Supplies and Inductive Technology BV.
2001 : Takeover of Philips’ Small Quantity Department
2002 : Removal to de Scheper in Oirschot In 2002 Wijdeven again moved to a new address, from Valkenswaard to a newly built factory in Oirschot ; towards Tilburg close to the A58 motorway.
2003 : Takeover of Powertechnics (partly) In February 2003 Wijdeven extended it's product range and product capacity by taking over a part of the company BTC (former Powertechnics).
2004 : 65th Anniversary In September 2004, 65 years after being founded, Wijdeven celebrated with a great party for all the personnel.
2005 : Foundation of Wijdeven International B.V.
2006 : Foundation of Wijdeven Europe B.V. and Wijdeven Mechatronics B.V. The departments Sales and Operations are merged to one central Sales Department (Wijdeven Europe B.V.). The department moved to the second floor of our office.
On July 1st, Wijdeven extended it's company activities by taking over the company Mechanical Design and founded Wijdeven Mechatronics B.V.
